#2: E3 Wrap-up edition
Kukurio,
Subrosian Master: One
thing in the article really disturbed me. He completely disregarded
MP, throwing it aside as if it were garbage. Apparently, he hasn't
read any of the ravings about it.
Response:
I’m iffy with Metroid Prime. I’m so sorry if you don’t
understand the concept of people thinking for themselves and holding
different opinions. If everyone thought jumping off of tall
buildings was cool and they were raving about it, should you do the
same and think the same even though its an idiotic act?
UserGoogol:
I
still like my reasoning. The person who wins E3 is not the person
who gets the most "money" or "market share" from
the event, or even, "popularity" or "hype," but
the one who excites their fanbase the most.
Nintendo never ever releases information, so when they do, their
fanbase either gets excited, or just gets annoyed and buys a
Playstation. Or both!
So, in conclusion, Nintendo wins because I say so. It doesn't matter
if Playstation and Xbox are more "Popular" because...
well, I say so.
Response:
Nobody
really cares about your reasoning...sorry buddy. Nintendo doesn’t
release information because they really don’t have anything to
release. They move about as quickly and have the same excitement as
a group of turtles trying to run a 500 mile race. Nintendo does not
win because I say so. You don’t count.
MushroomMarioMan:
Microsoft
A+, Nintendo C-, Sony D+? Come on.
XBox dominated news coverage because XBox live was the only major
announcement. In games, Sony and Nintendo were easily ahead.
Metroid Prime was one of the best (if not the
best) games at the show. Zelda put on an impressive show as well. I
liked what I saw with Mario Sunshine and Eternal Darkness.
We already knew about XLive too.
It's
guaranteed you will see a MGS, FF, Tekken, and VF on PS2. It doesn't
diminish them. I could use the same argument against Halo 2, Panzer,
or DOA4 (we know it's coming).
How many of the 100 [games] are worth getting? Not too many. How
many of those good titles are going to PS2 and GC? Almost all.
Response:
Write
your own damned article then.
Games?
Where were you? Xbox had more exclusives and better games displayed
than the competition. Metroid Prime is overrated. Doom III is a
better game. Celda is Celda. The point with Nintendo is they showed
NOTHING NEW. E3 is one of two times in the Nintendo year when they’re
supposed to roll out new games. All this year’s E3 was for
Nintendo was an exact copy from last year’s Spaceworld (minus
Gamecube information). Pretty lame overall.
We
knew Microsoft had an online gaming service. We didn’t have
prices, info, details, game support, dates, or anything else besides
"Microsoft is gonna eventually use the Ethernet card in the
back of the system." It is the biggest announcement because it
was the most unexpected and NEW (MEANING NOT A REPATITION FROM 8
MONTHS BEFOREHAND).
Yet
Microsoft showed us things we weren’t expecting. That’s why it
doesn’t diminish E3’s effect for Microsoft.
Not
particularly. There’s an entire list of Sega exclusives as well as
several big games (such as Ninja Gaiden). How many will be ported?
Many. How many won’t be ported for 6 months to a year? Almost all
of the ports.
Wing
Zero: In
games, MS is EAISLY ahead. Like we;ve said, how long have we known
about MP and Zelda? It's gauranteed that you will get a mario, a
zelda, and a donkey kong game on a nintendo console. How different
has that formula changed since freakin 1985?
The thing was that we didn't KNOW about Doom 3. Doom 3 is also much
more exciting, due to it being an extremely classic game.
Games that were exciting on the xbox:
- Panzer Dragoon Orta: This was RUMORED to cme for a while, and it
finally came, with what I believe to be the best graphics so far.
The in game stuff looked like FFX's FMV's. If you like Fantasy and
science fiction, this is more than a gem.
-Brute Force: I'm excited about the game from having seen a more
tactical team based mission set up Like rainbow six, but also the
all out mayhem of unreal tournament and other shooters. I didn't
really look at this game much, but I kno wmany friends who are
excited about it.
Soul Calibur 2- Damn. I played this game un the DC and it is
indisputably the king of fighting. I've looked a new screen shots.
They are not just "new and improved," They're hundreds of
times better. They mentioned something like exclusive people not on
any other console; but I don't know about it.
They are too many [good games coming out] to name. 100+. Project Ego
is coming, I've been played Morrowing and been diagnosed with
Insomnia because of it. Mechwarrior is back with a purpose.Enlave.
18. The lost. Now, GC had HOW MANY surprising Titles? All son said
was, 'Yeah, we're going online." No duh.
Response:
I agree that Microsoft won in games. However, if the Nintendo
formula for (limited) success has worked since 1985, why bother
changing it? Metroid, Zelda, and Mario are top series that are
almost certain to move systems to the hardcore market.
Doom
III was shown off with nVidia’s new hardware last year. This was
the first in-depth look at the game. Easily the top game of E3, but
since its a PC game, I’m not dealing with it.
Soul
Calibur 2 is slated for all systems and arcade (with some random
rumors about secret Nintendo characters for the Gamecube version).
If you want to talk about Microsoft games, I wouldn’t use
multiplatform games designed on another company’s arcade chipset
as an example.
I
can’t think of a Nintendo announcement that actually surprised me
outside of Yamauchi resigning.
SomeGuyYouDontKnow:
The
ratings is crap. I thought the whole thing was kind of lame. I would
give micro a B maybe a B+. Nintendo problay a C cause they didnt
show nothing new. Sony sucked I agree with you.
I have a feeling most of those Xbox games are gonna be good but not
all that popular. The Xbox users only buy halo and sports. GunValkry
(SP)and Jetset radio combined sold something like 600K in the US and
Japan Combined. Thats pretty bad. I think the same thing will
probaly happen with Panzer, Project EGO, and Shenmue 2.
Response:
Opinions.
Go look the definition up.
Gun
Valkyrie sucked because the control scheme was completely awkward.
JSRF is a great game but sells to a niche audience. Its too
downright strange for everyone to even understand. Panzer and
Shenmue might suffer the same fate, but it really depends how
aggressively the two games are marketed. Project EGO (on the other
hand) is highly anticipated and should experience some pretty high
success rates.
Masamune:
Well
I can't trust the judgement of a person who rates Star Wars a C.
That just.... *goes to clear head*
Response:
OH
NO!! SOMEONE SAID STAR WARS EPISODE II SUCKED!!! THE HORROR!! IT
DOESN’T MATTER THAT THE ACTING WAS TERRIBLE, THE STORY WAS CHEESY,
THE CGI WORLDS WERE UNBELIEVABLE WHEN THE REAL ACTORS (ALL 10 OF
THEM) WERE PUT IN THEM, YODA FIGHTING WAS UNREALISTIC SINCE HE LIMPS
BUT SUDDENLY JUMPS AROUND, SAMUEL L. JACKSON WENT FROM HAVING 4
LINES TO HAVING 20 (AND STILL IS UNDERUSED), KILLED OFF ONE OF THE
MORE DEVELOPED CHARACTERS (AGAIN!), PUT EVEN MORE LOOPHOLES IN THE
STORYLINE (TWO SITH MASTERS? EPISODE I CLAIMED "ONLY TWO...A
MASTER AND AN APPRENTACE), THEY KEPT THE TRADE FEDERATION AND THE
ONLY THING THAT’S COME FROM THE MOVIE’S LEGIONS OF IDIOTIC FANS
IS MORE MONEY TO SUPPORT GEORGE LUCAS’ CGI CRACK ADDICTION. SO LET
ME REITERATE: STAR WARS EPISODES I
AND II SUCKED!
