Q.
Steel Battalion's high price will be warranted if the controller is
sturdily built. I for one would rather drop $200 on quality,
rather than $100 on crap.
A.
I have no qualms dropping $200 on quality, but I do have major
issues if the sturdily built controller does nothing but collect
dust after I’m done playing the game. Capcom claims to be working
on an online expansion, but you have to ask yourself if a controller
and a 20 mission game is worth $200 bucks. You can get another
system and maybe a game for that amount. I have to question Capcom’s
logic in putting a $200 game out because they know people will not
rush out to buy it just based on the money. The game itself looks
great and even has a cynical critic like myself considering the
purchase, but the main thing in the way is the high price tag.

Q.
I saw you mention on the forums
that you had to send your Xbox off for repairs because of a dirty
disk error. I’m getting those too. What did you have to go
through?
A.
I started getting Dirty Disk errors and notice some DVD playback
issues last May. Some of my games would work perfectly fine, but
many others would only work for limited amounts of time before
freezing. While some were just glitchy, others were not. The one
issue that set it off was when I first got Madden 2003. I couldn’t
get past an entire game. I checked with EA and they told me to
exchange the game for a new copy. I did and the problem still
occurred. EA told me it was now Microsoft’s problem. I had to call
Microsoft tech support about this. They asked what I had on my Xbox
hard disk. I told them "Madden, Halo, DoA3 save files, DoA3
extra costumes, Hunter: the Reckoning, and Morrowind." The tech
representative told me that I had a corrupted file and the only step
was to delete everything on my hard disk. I did this and it did not
work. The tech guy then ran my serial numbers and told me that there
was a possibility I had a defective laser in my unit since it was
manufactured during a certain time-frame before launch. I could
either buy a new Xbox or pay $100 for out-of-warranty repair
service. I opted for the repair. They told me I had to mail it off
and wait 2-4 weeks for it to get back. However, I got the system
back immediately (got there on a Tuesday morning, had it back at my
house Wednesday afternoon). I haven’t had a problem with it since.
Moral of the story: Pay the $50 bucks and get the extended warranty
plan.
Before
doing all this, I would suggest to buy a DVD lens cleaner and use
that. You should clean the lens periodically. It helped one of my
friends.

YOU GAVE MADDEN 2003 A 7.8! YOU SUCK!!!
A.
I gave Madden
2003 a 7.8 because it did little to improve from last year. The
presentation was garbage, the Madden-bus challenges are stupid, and
the game should not be called Madden because Madden doesn’t say
anything aside from stupid generic comments. But what would I
know...you said I suck.
