XIII Multiplayer Details
September 10,
2003
Ubisoft announced the details concerning the multiplayer aspects of
its upcoming multiplatform title XIII. While each version
will have classic Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag
modes, the individual versions will have exclusive modes only
available to that format.
The Xbox version of XIII offers an offline four-player split
screen mode as well as online support for up to eight players.
Perhaps the most exciting feature in the Xbox version of XIII
is the exclusive “Sabotage” mode. This mode splits players into two
different teams competing to take control of specific points on the
map. One team’s role is to defend these points, while the other
team’s role is to sabotage these points. The defending team has to
hold out until the timer runs out, while the attacking team wins by
completing all of its objectives. This mode shows promise since it
follows the proven formula used by the Xbox Live hit Return to
Castle Wolfenstein (Team-based objective multiplayer modes).
XIII is scheduled for a Fall 2003 release.
