Alias Ships
April 6, 2004

Acclaim announced today that Alias has shipped for PS2 and Xbox, and should be on store shelves now for a suggested retail price of $49.99.  The title follows the exploits of Sydney Bristow, in a third-person action adventure title reminiscent of Ubisoft's Splinter Cell.  Hopefully we'll have a review soon.  UPDATE: Here's the press release:

GLEN COVE, NY, April 7, 2004 – Recruiting gamers to step into the dangerous world of international espionage and adventure, Acclaim Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ.SC: AKLM) and Buena Vista Interactive, today announced that they have shipped Alias for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft.  Based on ABC’s hit television series, Alias is a third-person action adventure that allows players to step into the role of the series’ lead character, Sydney Bristow (played by Jennifer Garner), an agent for the CIA.  Developed by Acclaim Studios Cheltenham, Alias features the authentic voices of the cast, an original story and script written by the series’ writers and producers, a revolutionary in-game split-screen camera, state-of the-art spy gadgetry and the unique combination of action and stealth gameplay.

“All of the core elements that go into creating a highly immersive game exist within ABC’s world of Alias and they have been authentically captured throughout this collaborative development process,” said, Marc Metis, Senior Vice President of Brand Management for Acclaim.  “Working closely with the series’ cast and writers, our studio was able to faithfully bring the series to life, resulting in a gaming experience that possesses true Hollywood production values and broad mass-market appeal.”

“Seeing “Alias” transformed into a video game is a surreal, exciting and very satisfying experience,” added J.J. Abrams, Creator and Executive Producer of “Alias.”  “Surreal because our actors and writers were involved in the creation of the game, so playing it feels as if you’re immersed in the “Alias” universe.  Exciting and satisfying because Acclaim did a terrific job.”

In Alias, CIA agent Sydney Bristow must use her cunning, extensive knowledge of martial arts and array of high-tech gadgetry to accomplish dangerous missions throughout stunning locations that span the globe.  Alias encompasses all of the key elements behind the series’ success, including high-action combat, stealth missions and time-based objectives, espionage, intriguing plot twists and high-tech weaponry.

In addition, the following “Alias” cast members are featured within the video game:

  • Jennifer Garner – Sydney Bristow
  • Michael Vartan – Michael Vaughn
  • Victor Garber – Jack Bristow
  • Ron Rifkin – Arvin Sloane
  • Carl Lumbly – Marcus Dixon
  • Kevin Weisman – Marshall Flinkman
  • David Anders – Mr. Sark

“Alias” was created by J.J. Abrams, who executive produces the series along with John Eisendrath, Ken Olin, Alex Kurtzman-Counter and Roberto Orci.  The ABC series, which is filmed in Los Angeles and premiered on September 30, 2001, is from Touchstone Television.

Alias is currently available for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft, each at suggested retail prices of $49.99.  The game will also be available for the PC next month at a suggested retail price of $29.99.  For more information on this game, please visit
