Surprise! Just when you thought that The Elder
Scrolls III: Morrowind had given all it could on Xbox, Bethesda
has come forth with a shocking announcement of Morrowind: Game of
the Year edition. This may sound like a gimmick for them to
sell more copies of Xbox's greatest RPG, but it actually is going to
give us gamers exactly what we've been demanding: Tribunal
and Bloodmoon. That's right, both expansion packs will be
included with the original game all on one disk. It looks like this
fall the VGF staff is once again going to slip away into RPG bliss.

The inclusion of the expansion packs may not sound
like much to some but these are games in themselves, adding between
40 and 80 hours of brand new gameplay. You will get your hands on
tons of new weapons, armor, and spells. There are completely new
areas for you to explore, including dungeons, islands, and frozen
wastelands. Plus many new beasts for you to slay...or to join,
because just like the first game which let you become a vampire, you
now can choose to be a werewolf. There is plenty of new content
that is being packed onto this disk, which should justify you
purchasing it for a 2nd time (it’s still cheaper then buying both
expansions for the PC) for the rumored price point of only $29.99.
Better still,
existing Morrowind characters can be transferred to the new game,
and can enter the two new lands at virtually any time during
gameplay.

From the
official press release, here's a list of key features in
Morrowind GotY:
-
Players can take their existing Morrowind
characters and save games and continue their adventures in the
Morrowind GotY edition - a first for a console game like this
-
Adds up to 80 hours of new gameplay and quests for
current Morrowind players
-
Explore the forests, caves, and snow-covered
wastelands of the island of Solstheim

lich lords and goblins, ice minions and spriggans
-

the threat of savage werewolves
-
